Technique for radar and infrared search and track data fusion
The paper describes an algorithm to fuse the data from a bi-dimensional Radar with the ones from an IRST. By suitably mixing the states from the two tracking systems, a set of homogeneous measurements are obtained that allow the data fusion process between two systems whose input measurements are not exhaustively comparable. An analysis of the estimation errors of the obtained data is performed and a new fusion equation is conceived to overcome the instability introduced in the “classical” fusion equation by the estimation error correlation along the coordinates axis that yields singular the involved matrices.
