Title
Mitigation of saturation in adaptive clutter cancellation
Abstract
This paper describes the problem of finding an optimum radar signal processor by taking into account the limited dynamic range of the receiver. The nonlinearities, the phase noise and other limitations effects of radar receivers have been extensively studied in the open literature. However, to the best of authors' knowledge, the above studies do not adequately cover the topic of finding the optimum radar signal processor in the presence of the receiver nonlinearity. In this paper we start to devise a method that mitigates the nonlinearity effects in designing the optimum target detector in the presence of noiselike interference and receiver noise. To this end, we present the calculation of the likelihood ratio (LR) in the presence of the nonlinearity and address the solution of the calculation of the probability density function (pdt) of this LR by exploiting suitable mathematical results in a simple study case.
