Title
A robust P-Band Receive Chain for Space-borne Radar Applications
Abstract
This paper discusses the design and development of a novel receive chain architecture for its use in a P-band Synthetic Aperture Radar for space-borne applications. The design accounts for a duplexer, a complex input protection block and a three stage low-noise GaAs pHEMT-based Low Noise Amplifier in order to satisfy the stringent requirements in terms of gain (> 45 dB), robustness against RF interference from other systems (> 18 dBm) and the simultaneous need of overall low-noise values for the receive chain in the order of 3 dB. Fully detailed architecture, designs and trade-offs are presented. Measurement results of the complete receive chain are given demonstrating the feasibility of the solution proposed.
