Test Tool for Detection and Tracking Capability Verification in Early Warning Radar
The field test of a long range three dimensional (range, azimuth, elevation) radar is among the most important stages along the life cycle of a project aiming to get the overall performance of a radar in its environment. In particular, to evaluate the detection and tracking capability of these radars on Non Linear Maneuvering Target (NLMT) is a very challenging tool to which both industries and defence agencies pay specific attention. The proposal to implement a reliable test for this purpose involves the use of a multicopter and of a compact Far Field Repeater (FFR). The proposal takes advantage of the idea that the extreme kinematic characteristics of a NLMT located hundreds kilometre far away from the Radar Under Test (RUT) are properly scaled on a multicopter hundreds meter far from the RUT.
