Titolo Analog Beamforming Network for Ka Band Satellite on the Move Terminal with phase shifting technique based on I/Q mixer

Abstract

In this paper an innovative Beamforming Network is described, operating in Ka band that will be used on a new generation of Satellite Terminal for Communications on the Move. The Tx and Rx modules provide the right phase shift and power level at the antenna array elements in order to squint the beam electronically toward the satellite direction and keep the link with the satellite active also during the movement of the vehicle. The phase shifting is achieved by means of suitable I/Q mixers, used in a particular operating condition, applied on both Tx and Rx modules. Very low cost original engineering solutions have been adopted.
